A great weekend!

It’s been a great holiday weekend here.

We enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast on Thursday. Turkey with the usual trimmings. Christopher and Sarah came for dinner, so our table was full. We had time to visit with them afterward, before they had to leave to have Thanksgiving with her family.

After they left, Adam helped me put the Christmas tree up. I finished putting the other decoration throughout the house, and spent the rest of the evening relaxing.

Friday was the ultimate lazy day! We didn’t leave the house, no interest in Black Friday shopping! I did, however, buy a couple of things online. It was a very relaxing day.

Saturday, Tim had to go back to work. Adam and I did a little bit of shopping, and, yes, I supported Small Business Saturday by shopping at my favorite boutique here in town. When we finished shopping, we went to see a movie. We saw Mockingjay Part 2, the last installment of the Hunger Games movies. It was good!

Today, I’m catching up on laundry before the week starts. I have no plans to leave the house today. Looking forward to a quiet day.

It’s been a great Thanksgiving weekend! I’m even more excited for Christmas now!

Free Stuff!

I love free stuff, don’t you?

I follow a lot of people on YouTube. One of the people I follow is Jennifer Ross with Pretty Neat Living. She does videos about all kinds of things. She also does giveaways on her blog. I have entered many of her giveaways, never expecting to win because thousands of people enter them.

She had a giveaway not long ago, of a $200 gift card to ErinCondren.com. Erin Condren is a company that sells life planners, teacher planners, address books, accessories for the planners, etc. Jennifer Ross uses an Erin Condren life planner, so I’ve seen her videos about them. I’ve thought it would be a nice thing to have someday.

So I entered this giveaway, like I have so many in the past. About a week or two later, I got an email from Jennifer Ross, saying I had won the Erin Condren gift card! I was so excited! $200 to spend at ErinCondren.com

I received the gift card in my email. A few days later, I got online to shop with it. It was so much fun putting things in my “cart”, not having spent a dime! I completed my order, and realized I still had $8 left to spend. I’ll do that later.

Today, my order arrived. I got almost $200 worth of stuff from Erin Condren! And I still have a little left to get something else! What a fun package to get!

So, here’s what I got! A personalized life planner, an address book, a creative color sketch/color pad, a holiday collection with stickers, gift labels, gift tags, cards, gift wrap and a gift checklist, a plastic pouch with a notepad, compliment cards, date dots for the planner, and a pen holder that clips into the planner, a package of stickies for the planner, a wellness journal, a package of elastic bands to keep the planner closed when I’m not using it, a package of gift labels, and a set of markers. That’s a lot of stuff!

I’m so excited to start using all of these things! And, to use the rest of my gift card!

Thank you Jennifer Ross and thank you Erin Condren!

Snow

So, the weather forecasters have been saying all week that we would get snow today. It’s just now starting to come down lightly here. Thankfully, we are on the low end of amounts predicted in this area.

I’m not a huge fan of snow. It’s pretty, of course, when everything is coated in white. And I love having snow for Christmas. But, it’s just a little early in the season for me. It’s not even Thanksgiving yet. But, I will admit, it’s fueling my excitement for the holidays!

When the boys were little, we played out in the snow a lot. Not so much anymore. I’m sure Adam wants to make time for the hill this year. We will do that. (Ok Adam, I wrote it on the blog, so just remind me of that when we have enough snow to go to the hill).

So, I guess I’ll pour another cup of coffee and watch the snow fall.

Have a wonderful day!

Are you getting excited?

Are you getting excited for Christmas? Or is it too early for you? I am getting very excited! I have bought a few gifts already, and that has me wishing it was Christmas now. Don’t get me wrong, I love Thanksgiving! Love having my family together for an amazing meal and giving thanks. But, I also love getting ready for Christmas.

We usually put our Christmas decorations up during the Thanksgiving weekend. There is a local radio station that has been playing Christmas music since right after Halloween. I don’t listen to it all the time, but I do enjoy hearing it during the day. If you are like me, the music helps get you in the holiday spirit. But I’m sure there are a lot of people who do not enjoy hearing it before Thanksgiving.

Ready or not, the holidays are coming! I, for one, intend to be ready, and enjoy every single minute of this holiday season. When you lose important people in your life, you realize that life is too short! Enjoy and make the most of it!

We did it!!

We did it! Today was the day! Adam and I ran our first 5k this morning! It was cold, there was frost on the car windows. I knew once I started running, the cold would not be a problem, but I was freezing while we waited to run.

The half marathon started first, and 30 minutes later it was our turn to go. Adam is pretty fast. He had done zero running to get ready for this 5k. He immediately got out ahead of me and I tried to keep up. But, eventually, I knew I had to stay at my own pace or I would never make it.

On the home stretch, I was feeling sick to my stomach, and my knees were starting to hurt. But, I could see the finish line, and I knew Adam was there waiting for me. There were people along the way cheering us on, that was awesome!

Hearing my name as I crossed the finish line was awesome! I did it! It felt great!

Adam had a time of 31:23, pretty darn good for no training ahead of time. My time was 33:05. That’s faster than I’ve ever ran that distance so I say that’s a win! Heck, just finishing is a win in my book!

Thanks for running with me Adam! I’m proud of you!

We love these!

Have you ever made Ranch Oyster Crackers? I just made another batch a few days ago and we love them here. I’m sharing the recipe so you can enjoy them too. They are super easy to make!

Ranch  Oyster Crackers

Two packages of plain oyster crackers

1 packet Hidden Valley Original Ranch Dressing mix

3/4 cup vegetable oil

1/2 tsp lemon pepper

1  1/2 tsp dill

1 tsp garlic

Mix dressing mix, oil and seasonings together and pour over the crackers. Stir to coat them well. Bake at 250 degrees for 10-15 minutes, stirring halfway through baking time. Enjoy!
