Suggestions

In the next day or two, I will be making a trip to Trader Joe’s. I’ve never been there before so it will be a new experience for me.  I am going to check it out, and see what kind of good, healthy things I can find there. Not sure what I will end up buying, if anything, but I am excited to check it out.

I thought I would ask you for suggestions of things you love to get at Trader Joe’s. What do you buy there? Do you have favorites that you have to get every time you go? Anything I should avoid? Help me out here!

Thanks!

Happy Easter

Just wanted to stop by and wish you all a Happy Easter. I hope you all get to enjoy time with your loved ones.

My family and I will be going out for Easter brunch tomorrow. Looking forward to that. I’m not working at all next week, so I’m also looking forward to some down time and spending time with my boys. I’m gonna love every minute!

Happy Easter!

Shout out time!

Today, I want to give a shout out to both my boys. I’m so proud of them! They are both putting themselves out there in the gaming world and making their names known.

Christopher has been regularly uploading videos to his YouTube channel, Shadowghoul131. You should check it, and subscribe. He has also done some live streaming on Twitch. You can watch when he is live streaming, again, Shadowghoul131. If you follow him on Twitter, he tweets when he is streaming live. Check it out!

Adam has a YouTube channel as well. Check out ExoTic Diizy. He has quite a few videos there. Give them a look, and subscribe. He also has been doing some live streaming on Twitch. You can watch when he is live streaming.  Exotic_Diizy is how to find him there. Follow ExoTic Diizy on Twitter to find out when he is live streaming on twitch.

I love how they are doing something they love, and putting themselves out there. Makes my one video look pretty lame, lol.

Keep up the great work! I’m so proud of both of you!

It’s been a while!

It’s been a while since I got my camera out. I usually like to take pics of flowers and other things outside in nature. Those are my favorites. But, of course, I take pics of lots of other things too. I just haven’t in a while.

Getting close-up shots of flowers is one of my very favorite things to shoot with my camera. It amazes me that I can even get the shots to come out not all blurry. My shaky hands seem to be getting worse as I get older. I have a tripod I can use, but it’s hard to use it with close-up flower shots. For me, anyway.

This is a shot I did of some flowers I received a few weeks back. I love how it turned out! I can’t wait for the flowers to start blooming in the yard.

In the meantime, I need to get the camera out more often. I should not let my shaky hands stop me. I can use the tripod to help with the shakes. I usually have fun with the camera when I use it. No sense in letting the camera sit. It cost too much money for that.

Maybe I’ll be good enough by the time Adam is a senior. Then I can do his senior pictures. Lol. That makes me chuckle!

Order day!

Yesterday, my Young Living essential rewards order arrived. I’ve said it before, it’s like Christmas when it comes. I ordered some stuff I needed to stock up on, and got some free things.

image

I was out of the Thieves lozenges because I love them and use them regularly. I’ve been using the Thieves Aromabright toothpaste since last months order. I love knowing I’m using a toothpaste that is free from chemicals.  My bottle of Thieves laundry soap is getting close to being empty. Amazing! You use less than you would with a regal detergent, so it lasts longer. I got my bottle before the holidays! I also love the Thieves dental floss.

Life 5 is an awesome probiotic. My doctor suggested I start taking a probiotic several months ago. Life 5 works great. I’m also trying the Longevity supplement.

I order a bottle of Peace & Calming 2 every month. It goes in my diffuser every night with cedarwood.

The Citrus Fresh, Lemon and Eucalyptus Globulus were free products. I love both the lemon and citrus fresh, they smell amazing. Citrus fresh is great in the diffuser, and sometimes I put it on my wool dryer balls. Lemon is good in my water, also in the diffuser and it is great for cleaning as well. I am excited to try the Eucalyptus, it’s new to me.

I’m also back on the Ningxia Red bandwagon. It’s a sweet and tangy drink that is packed with goodness to support overall wellness with powerful antioxidants. An ounce or two a day is all you need to reap the benefits.

It’s all good!

It’s a beautiful day! It’s crazy windy here today, but the temp is in the 50’s and the sun is shining brightly! I’m feeling pretty darn good right now. I have been dealing with health issues for several months, but I got good news from the doctor on Monday. It’s all good!

My new healthy eating lifestyle is going well. Wish I could get my family to come along with me! I’ve been doing a lot of reading about healthy food and nutrition. I’ve even been tossing around the idea of online classes about healthy eating/nutrition. Not sure if that will happen, but I’ve been giving it some thought.

I was just outside playing with Zeke in the backyard. He was very obviously enjoying his time out there. I love playing with him outside when the weather is good.

There are signs of new life all over our yard, front and back. This time of year is beautiful!

Life is good!

Outside of the box!

Did you know that Young Living offers a whole host of products outside of the starter kit oils? Let’t talk about a few.

Cedarwood essential oil is one of my favorites! I use it in my diffuser every night to help promote a restful night of sleep.

Joy essential oil is another favorite for me. It has a pretty strong floral scent that, at first, I didn’t like. But, it has grown on me. And now I wear as perfume or in my diffuser necklace.

If you have read any of my running posts, you know that Deep Relief is the lifesaver for my knees! This roll-on blend is awesome to help relieve sore muscles after exercise.

Another roll-on that I love is Stress Away. I carry this in my purse and use it regularly. It smells amazing and helps calm me down when I’m feeling stressed.

I absolutely love the Orange Blossom Facial Wash! It’s the only thing I use to wash my face and I love how it makes my skin feel. Good stuff!

Life 5 is a high potency probiotic. I take one capsule every night to help balance my digestive system and support my immune system.

These are just a few products of the many Young Living offers. If you would like more info, please email me at simpsonjannita@gmail.com.

Feels good!

Last week, here in Michigan, we had cold and snow. This week, it’s sunny and warm, 70 degrees! It’s so great to go outside without a jacket or sweatshirt.

I love to be outside when it’s nice out. I did some yard work yesterday. I cleaned the leaves and dead foliage out of most of our rock gardens. Already, there is new life sprouting. That has to mean spring is almost here.

Adam and I went to the park to play frisbee yesterday. It was the perfect day, although the breeze sometimes took control of my throws. I’m not the best frisbee thrower!

I’ve also been able to get out and run again. I’ve got two 3 mile runs in already this week. It really feels good to be running again, hopefully on a regular schedule.

The dogs have been out more since the weather has warmed up. Zeke loves to play ball in the back yard. Coco just likes to explore.

These 70 degree days are really out of the norm for this time of year here. I know it will cool down again, but hopefully we can stay in the 50’s and 60’s now. But, this is Michigan.  We’ll see!

It’s going ok!

So this new, healthy way of eating I’m working on seems to be going ok.  I am trying very hard to cut back on the amount of sugar I consume. This is tough, as there is sugar in so many things. But, it’s going ok. I have been trying to do a better job of reading labels. And I have increased my intake of vegetables and fruit. I am also drinking a lot more water. I have been somewhat addicted to Lipton Green Tea Citrus flavor, in bottles, for a few years now. I love that stuff. But, after becoming more conscious of the amount of sugar in things, I took the time to read the label. There are 27 grams of sugar in one 16 oz. bottle. Holy cow! No wonder I love it. I had just bought another 12 pack of this tea before I decided to overhaul my way of eating. It has not made it’s way to the fridge yet. I don’t want to waste it, so it’s kind of hanging in limbo right now. That just seems like so much sugar. I need a replacement for the tea.

I’m trying to make better snack choices. More cut up veggies and fruit, nuts, etc. As far as meals go, I’ve tried a few new recipes, nothing too far out of the norm for my family. I don’t want to force them to change their eating habits along with me unless they want to. Maybe they will see how good I’m feeling and want to hop on board! Wishful thinking there, I’m sure!  I’ve been more careful about portion sizes. This has been a good week.

I’ve been cutting back on sweets, obviously, since I’m cutting back on sugar. I made some healthy apple cinnamon muffins this week. They were very yummy. Of course, I don’t think anyone else here ate any, lol. I’m not completely denying myself things I love either. It’s ok to indulge once in a while.  I made peanut butter pie this week, Adam and I love it. I had some, but I cut a tiny slice for myself instead of a whole piece.

I’m not following a certain type of diet or way of eating. I’m just trying to find what feels right for me and my health. I’m paying more attention to my body and how it reacts to the foods I’m eating. I still have times when I feel bloated or nauseous, so maybe there is something I need to change, food wise, that will help with that. It’s a process, finding what works for me and is healthy and good for me. But, it’s a new way of eating for me, not just a temporary diet. I’ve lost a couple of pounds, which is a happy accident. That’s not what this is about for me, so it’s a pleasant surprise.

Drinking as much water as I do has me making more trips to the bathroom. I don’t mind. I know it’s good for me.

I’ve been making some smoothies sometimes, when I’m home at lunch time. I really need to invest in a new blender. Our blender is super old, like probably from the 70’s! I like to put frozen fruit in my smoothies sometimes and the blender has a hard time with that. I usually find a lump of fruit at the bottom of my cup. So, I’ve been tossing around the idea of a Vitamix or a Ninja or something along those lines. They are expensive, so it’s a big decision. I’ve been told the vitamix will make soups and juices and that you can make your own flours and nut butters, etc. That’s awesome, but the price still scares me!

The winter weather has been messing up my running again this past week. But it has not stopped me from working out. I put miles in on my exercise bike and do weight work and ab work. Anxious to get back out running. Come on spring!!

So far so good with these healthy changes I’m making. Knowing it’s a lifestyle change and not a diet seems to make it easier for me. I think I’ve actually been sleeping better. I want to feel better than ever, and I’m on my way.
