Happy New Year

The new year is just hours away now. 2017 has gone by so fast! The older I get, the faster time flies!

2017 was a pretty good year. Good things, bad things, this year had it all.

We got a misophonia diagnosis for Adam. I’m calling that a good thing because it led to support at school for him for the remainder of his junior year.  But, I’m also calling that diagnosis a bad thing, because, even though we know what he’s dealing with, it has gotten progressively worse. And, anxiety levels are off the charts for him sometimes. The worsening led to an unconventional school schedule for him for his senior year. He’s super comfortable and happy about not having to deal with triggers in school. But, he’s a senior, and he’s missing all of the fun that goes along with senior year. As a mom, it breaks my heart to see him struggle with this cruel disorder and I would give anything to take it away from him! So excited to see him graduate and chase his dreams!  My wish for him in 2018 is peace and quiet and the start of an amazing future!

We spent a lot of time in 2017 preparing for a wedding. We are now 3 weeks away from the wedding. Yes, Christopher and Sarah will be husband and wife in 3 weeks! Doing all of the fun things to prepare for their big day has been so much fun! From finding dresses, to ordering tuxes, to planning and hosting showers, to preparing for wedding weekend. We are so excited and happy for them! Seriously can’t wait for it to get here! My wish for them in 2018 is love and fun and happily ever after!

We got a new puppy. He is 7 1/2 months old now, and he does not look like a puppy anymore! Zeus has kept us on our toes since we brought him home in July. Zeke was very slow to warm up to him, but I think that he’s finally coming around. Or, maybe, he just tolerates him because he knows he doesn’t have a choice, lol. He’s a handful, but we love him! He has yet to go to his 4 group training classes with Sit Means Sit, like Zeke did. I’m totally insecure about doing a group class with him. I hope we get to that point eventually, but he is very stubborn! My wish for 2018 for Zeus is 4 group classes, lol. And for, Zeke, peace and tolerance, lol.

Tim continues to work. He’s talking about retirement, but not just yet. He keeps moving the dates back, lol. It’s looking like summer of 2020 is his projected retirement goal. It will come fast! But, he works a lot of hours, and deserves a break! My wish for him in 2018 is rest, and good health and fun.

As for me, this year brought some changes. I had major surgery earlier in the year. My recovery from that took longer than I planned, but I ended up with the whole summer off, so I can’t really complain. I have been cleaning for a living for a lot of years and it has taken it’s toll on my body, especially my hands and my knees. I have arthritis and it is pretty bad in my hands. After a day of cleaning, I would come home and my hands would be stiff and achy. I struggle with normal, every day tasks sometimes because of the arthritis. I made the decision to give up cleaning as a result of my arthritic hands. My doctor supports the decision, saying if I hadn’t decided on my own, he would have strongly advised me to do so. My days of cleaning for other people came to an end right before Christmas. While I will miss the people I have been cleaning for, I treasure the new friendships I have as a result. The end of my cleaning days opens up a new door for me. I have been half-heartedly working to build my Young Living business this year. Now, with no job to go to outside of my home, I can concentrate full time on my business. I love Young Living, and not just because of the amazing oils! I love the oils, of course, but also the supplements, the skin care products, the food products, their Seed To Seal promise, their humanitarian work, their support and love of all members, the support from the oily communities I belong to! All of it! I want to be the best version of me, ever, in the new year, and Young Living plays a big part in that. Health and wellness is very important to me, and Young Living has everything I need to support me and the needs of my body systems. Personal development is also going to be a big part of my 2018, and a part of my business. My wish for myself in 2018 is wellness, purpose, and abundance in all areas of my life, including my Young Living business.

My wish for all of you in 2018 is happiness, love, peace and wellness.

Happy New Year! Make 2018 a great year!

New Year

Christmas Day has passed and we are looking ahead to the New Year. So many people make resolutions to start out a new year. Many people decide to focus on their health and fitness when a new year rolls around. Are you one of those people?

The beginning of a new year is a perfect time to add essential oils and oil infused products into your wellness routine. Once you start using essential oils from Young Living, it just becomes part of your routine to reach for them instead of some other product that may contain some not-so-great ingredients.

A new year is also a good time to start ditching and switching toxin-filled products out of your home. I no longer buy chemical filled cleaning products that used to leave me coughing and wheezing while using them. Thieves Household Cleaner, essential oils like lemon and tea tree, Norwex cloths, and vinegar and water are the only things I use to clean my home. I don’t have to worry about what might harm my dogs if they come into contact with my cleaning products. And these natural products I use don’t leave me coughing and wheezing!

I love that Adam will go to the oil cabinet now looking for whatever he needs. When I need support for a particular body system, I go to the oil cabinet. I don’t run to the drugstore. I have an arsenal of oils and supplements to get us through the long winter season. I have oils to support me when I’m needing emotional support. I have oils and supplements when I need a little pick-me-up. I wear oils as perfume. I support my skin daily with oils. I even brush my teeth with oil-infused toothpaste. I use oils in diffusers instead of candles. I cook with oils. The list goes on and on!

Are you making a resolution to work on your wellness for 2018? I would love to see you start your oily journey in the new year! I love helping people see how much these oils and products can do! Let me help you!

The Premium Starter Kit is the best way to get started. It’s the only thing that Young Living offers that is half off. The price of the starter kit is $160, but it’s worth $349! Such an amazing deal for so much awesomeness!

What is a purple bag?

I put together a lot of purple bags for a vendor event I did a couple of weeks ago. What’s inside the purple bag? All kinds of info about essential oils, how to use them, how to use oils to ditch toxic products from your home, a sample or two, a cd to listen to and some info about the opportunity Young Living offers.

I have a few bags left. I would love to send you one. Send me your address to simpsonjannita@gmail.com and I’ll put one in the mail for you.

There is even a detailed instruction sheet on how to order your starter kit. Everything you need in one purple bag. Grab yours while they last.

First trip of the season!

Adam and I made our first trip of the season to the slopes. We went to Mt. Holly yesterday. We had gotten a few inches of snow the day before, and a lot of schools were closed yesterday. But, it was bitterly cold and we hoped that the super cold temps would keep people away.

It wasn’t super busy when we got there. We were on the slopes before noon, I think that helped. As the day wore on, more and more people, mostly kids, were showing up.

We had a good time. We stayed out for over an hour before we decided to go in and get some lunch. It was good to sit for a bit while we enjoyed lunch.

After we headed back out, we stayed on the same hill the rest of the day. I am most comfortable on this hill. Adam tried to get me to go over to the next hill, a little more advanced,  but, I wasn’t ready. He worked on his skills, and I worked on just feeling more confident and in control, lol.

We skied/snowboarded for a few more hours and then decided to head for home. We were both tired and his stomach was bothering him. But it was a good day!

My left knee (the back of it) was really feeling sore and tight after we got back home. I rubbed some Deep Relief on it and it really helped. The cooling sensation felt great. Been using it today as well, and it really does give deep relief!

It was a great first trip and we can’t wait to get back on the slopes!

If you would like more info about Deep Relief or Young Living, please message me at simpsonjannita@gmail.com.

It’s time!

It’s time. It’s time for me to stop cleaning for other people.

I have been cleaning for a living for a lot of years. I worked as a school custodian at the Catholic elementary school that both of my boys attended. When Adam moved on to high school, I stayed as the custodian for a few more months. And then it was time to move on and let another mom take over.

Moving on, for me, meant working for myself. I started cleaning houses again (I had done this in the past). I built up a nice client base and worked part time, making my own schedule. It was great! I clean for great people, and it has truly been a pleasure getting to know new friends. I also clean for two family members.

My hands and my knees have been bothering me for some time. The knuckles on my  hands are red and swollen and stiff after a day of cleaning. I have osteoarthritis in both my hands and both of my knees. It’s bad enough now that I don’t want to do anything around my own house after cleaning at another house. My hands hurt. It’s not even just the cleaning anymore. It hurts to do any writing, it hurt to rake the leaves this fall. It hurts to shovel. It just hurts.

So, it’s time. I gave my cleaning clients notice way back in October. I wanted them to have as much time as possible to find a replacement for me, a process which I would, of course, help facilitate. And now, it’s almost here. I have 6 days of cleaning left. This week will be the first week of lasts. Last time cleaning for three different people. And next week will be the last time cleaning for the other three. I finished for one other person a few weeks ago who was a once a month cleaning job.

I will miss helping these people keep their homes clean. But, I am truly grateful for new friendships. And for how amazingly supportive they have all been. I have been blessed!

My hands and knees will appreciate less wear and tear from all that cleaning. I’m hoping that by giving up my cleaning jobs, I will have slowed down a bit the progression of the osteoarthritis. I know it won’t ever go away, and I know it will get worse, but, maybe, it will slow down now.

So what’s in store for me now? Well, first, I can handle things around my own home a little better. And second, I will be building my Young Living business. I am a #diamondrising. I am excited to see what the future holds.

I’m Ready

So, I did it! I bought some skis. After renting skis and boots last season, I decided to buy my own this year. It’s pricey to ski if you have to rent skis and boots on top of paying for the lift ticket.

I went with a used pair of skis. I figure until I get a whole lot better (and braver) used will work for me for now. I got new poles to go with them.

And then I also got new ski boots. Renting ski boots kind of grosses me out! lol So I splurged just a bit and got new boots. The skis have been adjusted to fit me and my boots, and Adam helped me wax them, so I’m good to go. Now, when we get to the slopes, I can get ready at the car like Adam does with his snowboard gear. We only have to pay for lift tickets now.

It snowed here today, just a dusting. But, it was pretty. And, it’s cold. So, the ski resorts are open. A little more snow coming on Saturday.

Our first trip to slopes this season will hopefully happen next week.
