Peace and Calming

We all could use a little Peace and Calming in our lives, right?

I seriously love this essential oil blend from Young Living! Peace and Calming is a blend of Ylang Ylang, Orange, Tangerine, Patchouli, and Blue Tansy. It has a fresh, comforting aroma that creates a relaxing environment.

Lots and lots of families with young children love this blend. But, I love it too, and we have no small children here anymore. I use it in the diffuser at bed time, but I also love a drop on my wrists before I crawl in bed. Who doesn’t want some extra sleep support?

I’m happy to have this blend in my arsenal.

A Sad Time

Yesterday, Gary Young, founder of Young Living passed away.

Gary Young is the reason I started my Young Living business. While I never had the privilege to meet him, he was very vividly in a dream of mine months and months ago, talking to me about my business.

His dream was to get essential oils into every home around the world. I will do my small part to make that dream a reality.

Please keep the Young family and the Young Living family in your prayers.

No Surgery

So, I had the MRI done and waited almost a week to get the results. I knew when I answered the phone and heard the the voice of the doctor, instead of the nurse, that it probably was not good news.

He was concerned about the fact that the MRI showed that I do, in fact, have a closed, non-displaced fracture of my humerus. Not sure why that didn’t show up on the x-rays back in March. Regardless, he referred me to an orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation.

I saw the surgeon a couple of days ago. They did more x-rays and then went over the MRI with me. He doesn’t want to do surgery (whew, so relieved). He gave me a cortisone shot in my shoulder. It hurt when the needle actually got into my shoulder, it hurt a lot, actually. He was using the ultrasound while giving the shot in order to make sure the shot was going where he wanted it to. It was weird to see the needle in my shoulder. He also wants me to do physical therapy. I start that later next week.

Later on that day, after the shot, the pain in my shoulder got so much worse. Movement in certain ways, that had been hurting since injury day, was much more painful. This is normal, I was told. And by the next morning, that was gone.

I see the surgeon again in mid June, and I’m hoping that things are a lot better.

I’m relieved to not be having surgery. We are hosting a grad party for Adam in a few weeks, and I was worried about how I would get all the work for that done with my arm in a sling.

He needs this!

Zeus has been doing such a great job at group class. He’s perfectly comfortable around the other dogs and owners during class. Since the weather has been warmer, on class days when it’s not raining, we go to a local park for class. He does so well! We even take them on a walk through town during class.

I’ve been wanting to start taking Zeke to group class again. It’s so good for them, constant exposure to other people, other dogs, and other surroundings and distractions. I wanted Zeke to benefit from that too. He went through the private classes with Zeus last fall, and went through 4 group classes. So this is not new to him. But, it’s been a long time and he needs it.

Last night was his first time back in class. Class was actually inside at the training facility because of rain. He did very well. He was a little uncomfortable, shaking, even, at first. But, he warmed up, and survived his return to group class.

We were a little worried about how Zeus would handle the distraction of having Zeke there. But, he did great!

Class is offered twice a week, and we intend to go as often as we can.

The Garage

So, it happened. Our garage project has finally started!

2 years ago, after getting estimates for a new garage and not liking any of those numbers, we ended up with a brand new kitchen. 😂 How does that happen? Too many trips to Lowes! lol

So now, it’s time to actually get a new garage. We called the contractor that did our kitchen and he gave us a great price. So, we got the ball rolling. We waited for weeks to get a response from the township. First, they denied our project. So, our contractor went back, we adjusted the size of our plans a bit, and the township finally gave their approval.

We rented a storage pod from someone local, and Adam and I spent an entire day, in the rain, emptying the garage, moving stuff into the storage pod and making a trash pile.

On Wednesday, the contractor and his crew arrived to demolish our old garage. The old garage was an attached, very small, one car garage. There was truly no room to move in there. It took the crew about 5 1/2 hours to get the garage completely down and cleaned up. They even hauled away all of our trash!

I was worried about how the dogs would handle all the noise of demolition, as well as a crew of strangers outside of the open windows. I put a drop of lavender essential oil in my palm, rubbed my hands together and and rubbed my hands down each of their backs and behind their ears. They were both able to relax and even nap a bit.

It looks so different now, without the garage there! But, the new garage will be so much nicer! Our side door was in front of the garage, and we have no back door. So, we have had to go out the side door and to the backyard gate to take the dogs out. Our new garage will sit up farther on the house so that the side door will be in the garage. That will be a treat!

Once the demolition was done, we had to wait for the utility companies to come and mark where the lines are underground in the yard. That’s done, so we are hoping that excavation will start on Monday, or sometime during the week.

I know the weather will affect this job, but I’m hoping it goes smoothly and doesn’t take forever.

Stay tuned.
