Thrift Books

Recently, a family member told me about an online place to buy used books. It’s called ThriftBooks. I love to read, and have for years, so this sounded like something I needed to check out.

ThriftBooks was born in 2003, and has since grown to include warehouses in multiple cities across the United States. They even have an app!

ThriftBooks believes in the power of reading. Let me share with you their purpose, as stated on their website:

“We believe reading empowers people, offering them empathy to live for a moment in someone else’s shoes, offers them education, a critical asset to improving one’s life, and offers an occasional escape to fantastic worlds inhabited by interesting characters. Yes, we save millions of books every year from being destroyed, but our mission goes beyond the environment. We save these books and make them accessible to readers for the chance to shape another mind, share another story, and teach a bit of wisdom.”

I love this! Not only are they helping the environment by saving books from being destroyed, they make those books available to millions of people, like me!

I love a new book, but, I also love buying used books. Our local bookstore has a big section of used books for sale. It’s the area of the store I go to first every time I shop there. So, to be able to browse through an online selection of used books, well, that’s definitely right up my alley.

The selection of books through ThriftBooks is huge! I mean, amazingly huge! You can search by categories or just type in a book title or author in the search bar. It’s really that easy!

I created an account, and started browsing. I ended up with 5 books in my cart. I paid just over $20 for these five books. I used a coupon code that was listed at the top of their site. Because my order was more than $10, standard shipping was free.

Because the books came from multiple places, they came in multiple shipments and it took several days for all of the books to arrive. But, it’s totally worth it! All of the books I ordered were in gently used condition, just as if I had bought them at the used book store.

I will definitely order from ThriftBooks again! This is not a sponsored post, I’m simply sharing about something new to me that I love.

If you love to read as much as I do, you should check it out!
