Isn’t this cute?

I like to put something decorative in the corner of our kitchen countertop. What sits there is usually something related to a holiday or the current season.

Recently, I found a mini pedestal on the website for a local store. I didn’t order it because I knew I would be in the store in a day or two and I would buy it then. When I went to the store, the pedestals were gone. I was disappointed, but decided to see if I could find it on Amazon. I did!

It’s small and super cute and works perfectly in the corner. I currently have my light-up ghost sitting on it for Halloween.

Squeaky Hinge

So, the bottom hinge on our bathroom door started squeaking. It was pretty annoying so I knew I needed to do something to make it stop. Having a puppy in the house, even if he doesn’t really look like a puppy anymore, means being super careful about what I use in/on places he can reach and put his mouth on. Zeke would never lick a hinge, lol, but Zeus totally would!

Instead of using WD40, which is what I would have reached for, I used lemon essential oil. I put a drop on my finger and rubbed on both sides of the hinge. Voila! No more squeak!!

Lemon essential for the win!

I’m super excited for the Young Living Holiday Catalog to be unveiled tomorrow. There are always great things in the holiday catalog!

The Fall Season

Fall officially arrives today. It certainly doesn’t feel like it here, though. As I’m writing this, it’s 85 degrees outside. It will remain in the mid to upper 80’s until sometime next week. I’m not complaining, though, I love hot, summery weather!

Summer is my favorite, but I like the fall season too. I love to see the leaves changing colors. I’m hoping we can take a drive or two this fall to get some really great photos of the fall colors. We can do more things during the week now, since Adam has an unconventional school schedule.

I would also like to make a run to Frankenmuth. I love it there! I’m sure there will be great photo ops there, but I love the chicken dinner at Zehnders. It’s worth the drive! But, I also love to go through all the shops and, of course, hit the outlets at Birch Run.

Of course, the fall season would not be complete without a trip to a cider mill. It’s fun, and yummy, to get the freshly made donuts and cider, and fresh-picked apples. Photo ops there, too! Yep, still love photography and I’m excited about more adventures with my camera this season.

Another thing I will be doing this season is getting ready for ski season. Yep, I’m gonna buy my own skis and boots this year so I don’t have to rent them. Adam is eager for the snow to fly so he can get back on his snowboard. Hoping for more trips to the slopes this winter.

The biggest thing I’m doing this fall is hosting a bridal shower for Sarah and Christopher! I’m so excited! There is a lot to do, but it’s fun because it’s such an exciting day! The wedding is fast approaching!

What are your plans for the fall season?

Different Uses

So, remember when I told you about the new Young Living products that were introduced at the convention this summer? I told you that I wanted to try the new Seedlings Baby Wipes.

Well, I got them and I love them! No, there are no baby bottoms here to wipe, and haven’t been for a lot of years. I got the wipes to use as makeup removers. They work great! They are super soft and smell so good, and, best of all, I know I’m using a product that is made with only good ingredients. No yucky stuff in these wipes!

I also love to use these wipes as dryer sheets. Yep, that’s right! Throw one in (two if the load is really big) the load and my laundry comes out smelling good and soft and with no static. So awesome!

Our puppy, Zeus, is 4 1/2 months old now. He has grown so much, I can’t believe how big he is! He is almost as big as Zeke.

He is growing and learning. He sits on command to get his leash on to go out and to come back in. Adam taught him to shake. He is learning to walk well on the leash. He is a little stubborn, though, and we have to work with him consistently to keep the training going smoothly. He is fully potty trained, no accidents in the house since his first two weeks or so with us.

We are working on socialization by walking him more, taking him in the car more often. We need to take him out more, as well as Zeke.  We bought some harnesses and seat belts for both of them. It makes a huge difference when they are in the car. So much easier and so much safer for them. They are both in training now. We’ve had 4 private training sessions and Zeke is ready for group classes. Zeus, however, is not, lol. He will be going for a day train, where he spends the whole day at the training facility. We’ll see how that goes!

Two handsome guys playing in the yard!

I love them!! 🐾

Ningxia Red

Have you heard of Ningxia Red? Oh my, so much goodness!

Ningxia Red is a wellness drink from Young Living. It combines the wolfberry with essential oils and fruit juices to make an amazing, tangy drink full of antioxidants. Staying above the wellness line is important to me, so I love drinking a shot of Ningxia Red every morning, just an ounce or two. Sometimes I add a drop of one of the vitality essential oils to my Ningxia shot. So good!

The premium starter kit from Young Living comes with two packets of Ningxia Red. When I got my starter kit a few years ago, I was afraid to try the Ningxia, and the packets sat unopened for quite some time. I belong to several oily groups on Facebook, and I would see people post regularly about how much they loved the Ningxia Red. So, I got brave, lol, and tried mine. I was pleasantly surprised at the taste. I’m not sure what I was expecting it to taste like, but it was very good!

Now, I don’t like to run out of it. It’s that good! And it’s that good for me!

Message me at if you’d like more info about this amazing drink.

Never heard of it!

I saw a photo on Instagram yesterday of a recipe called Eggs in Purgatory. I had never heard of it, but boy did it look good! I found a recipe for it on Pinterest, and used it as a guideline of sorts, but I really made this yumminess based on what I had here.

I sauteed some fresh summer squash, zucchini, and tomatoes in some olive oil. Once the veggies started getting soft, I poured in about a cup or so of marinara sauce. Marinara is what I had on hand. I let that simmer for a few minutes. Then, I dropped an egg in a small bowl, and then, using a spoon, I made an indent in the sauce and dropped the egg in. I did the same for a second egg. I put a lid on the pan and let it simmer for several minutes until the egg was done to my liking.

Can I just tell you that this was amazing?? No one else here would ever eat this, but you can be sure I will make it again, and again, and again! It was that good!

This is not the best pic. Taken with my phone on snapchat, but it gives you a little idea of what this recipe looks like. Try it!

Missing my dad today. It’s not a special day, or an anniversary related to him. I just miss him. Sometimes, a girl just needs her dad, you know?

I wish I could talk to him. Well, I do talk to him, every day. But, he’s in heaven, and he can’t really chat with me. But, I know he hears me. And sometimes, he’s in my dreams. There is so much happening these days, and I wish he was here for all of it, good and bad.

I love you dad!

I know you are smiling down at Christopher and Sarah as they get closer to their wedding day. You would love Sarah so much!  I wish you could be here for the wedding! You’ll be there in spirit.

I know you are so proud of Adam! He’s so smart, and talented and funny! He reminds me of you a little bit. Can you believe he’s a senior? Could you maybe send some extra love and a big hug down for him? He could use it!

And, I could use a dad hug too! Maybe you could show up in my dreams tonight?

I love you! ❤️
